I consider this the African version of suits or some other legal drama close to it.
If you looking for a relatable legal series then this is it. The stories are not only relatable – traditions that contradict with current laws, abuse, inheritance, religion, co[pyright issues, and even witchcraft.
The story changes with each however, some storylines go for more than one episode and so do the relationships of the different characters. It is fast-paced with humorous touches here and there despite the seriousness of most issues.
Set on the backdrop of the city of Lagos this Legal drama takes us through the business days of a Lagos law firm run by Remi and Tega Castle. Their tumultuous relationship reflects in their work and the question is which one will give?
An unforgiving father and founder of the firm also continually keep prying in the business of the firm and influence decisions in the process swelling up the tension between the couple.
Their team is passionate but each faces their own issues. From hunger to get ahead, losses in the past, or just their own personal relationships, all this weighs heavily on them and how they relate with each other and their clients.
The Script is Ok though repetitive, especially in the first episodes.
The casting director earned their salary. The actors fit in their roles perfectly and they are believable in their roles. while each series is a stand-alone the character of the different individuals, their backstories, and the issues they are facing manifest across the different episodes.
My favorite characters were Dakore Akande who acts the role of Remi Castle. I think shed did an outstanding job acting as the go-between her father and husband. She not only brings flair to the series but also a sense of humor also a seriousness to the situation the firm and the couple is facing. Her frustration is felt and so is her determination to make the marriage work.
Denola Grey does a good job with his character Ben. Really bringing out the entitled rich kid character to a more mature responsible lawyer – a character that is very believable and one that we can relate to.
Deyemi Okanlawon’s character is not boring and the squabbles he has with others very funny. While he acted the role I don’t think he actually communicated the personality of the Kwabena character in the script. I felt it was just Deyemi doing a role I did not get to really understand and see Kwabena through Deyemi.

Most things about technical construction are basically OK. Nothing is really outstanding. Often time does not seem to move either because the characters are wearing the same clothes or the day you thought had moved ahead is back a few hours. All said since each episode is a different story you don’t get lost in the confusion. The continuity guy could have done a better job
Despite the actors doing a great job. The technical team did exactly bring their A-game. That said I hope season 2 will be much better than season 1 though after 2 years I doubt this will happen. It was a great effort all said the series continues to entertain many on both Ebony and Netflix
I give this series a 7/ 10
