Keteke

Comic story on the backdrop of the Ghanaian railroad system in the 80s.

At the time the train was the only mode of travel between different cities. It was still the error of Afros, bell-bottoms and leather jackets through the styles were a little toned down.

Adjetey must have had it hard acting a bowlegged guy in platforms!

I expected much more of the story but it turned out to not have any deep meanings. All said it is OK and a little funny.

The Story
A couple travels to the in-laws for their first delivery however they miss the train and decide to go to the next stop in the hope of catching another train. As they go from one stop to the other, they are distracted and later discover how close they were to losing their baby.
The script feels empty to me, maybe because of the banner with the couple Boi and Atswei carrying large luggage, and, that I expected something that was not there but the creator just wanted a simple comedy It was a little
The Actors
It’s a comedy so a lot is not practical but meant to be funny. My best moment is when Atswei acted by Lydia Forson hits the guard with the radio for suggesting they cannot leave with her unborn baby. The Trainmen also sang beautifully and the lyrics of the songs are funny.
I pity Adsetey’s legs at the end of that production. Can’t imagine the miles he had to walk bowlegged in high shoes
The Cast of Keteke
Adjetey Anang – Boi
Clemento Suarez – Train Man 2
Edmund Onyame – Train Man 4
Edwin Acquah – Train Man 5
Fred Nii Amugi – Old Man
Jeneral Ntatia – Train Man 1
Joseph Otsiman – Young Man
Lydia Forson – Atswei
Raymond Sarfo – Train Man 3
Technical Construction
The grassland as the backdrop of this movie is great and I especially loved the aerial views that gave a perspective to how lonesome the area the two are traveling through is. Another interesting aspect was the Camera angles that made Atswei’s belly look quite large and for some reason made the difficulty and impact of the burden and sun feel so real.
I think the technical team does a good job of telling the story
Conclusion
The story felt incomplete. I was still waiting for something that was not promised at the end.
Score
I give this production a 5/10. While not faulty in itself it felt so empty by ending before it had even started.
