The CEO

I get it, though Kenyans are not the best dressers, and neither is Nairobi a fashion capital by any standard, for other Africans to have Kenyan men documented in their badly fitting suits and pot bellies is embarrassing just as it is hilarious.

This drama is tense right through the hour the film runs. Though each twist and turn is expected after the first big incident, each death following is as scary as the first.
I recommend it for a movie night if only to get the little bit of how badly Kenyan men can dress but overall I think it was entertaining. The CEO is available on Netflix

The Story
An international French Telco company Transwire, is recruiting a regional manager for its head office in Nigeria and invites five of its top executives in Finance and Marketing to vie for the job.  However, secrets from their past and present stand in the way of each of them from being the best candidate for the job. However, who knows these secrets, who will use them to get ahead in combination with a spooky game of musical chairs?
The story is interesting though the words may have been jumbled up by the actors. For example, in the Kenyan scene we are given the impression Jomo is clearing his debt and immediately after the thug talks of Jomo giving the rest of his money. Though the message that he is a gambler is sent but the confusion distracts from the story.
The Actors
There are a number of unfamiliar faces, though by the quality of acting, they are seasoned actors. I think all the actors were quite convincing it is hard to pick a favorite. Given that the movie’s stickiness depended a lot on Dr. Dara Zimmerman being scary, I think she did a great job. Another person I really liked was Kemi Lala as Lisa, Fatym as Yasmin and of course Wale Kojo as Kola. My favorite scene was when Dr. Zara was bullying Jomo. He did a great job here and made me quite nervous as well.
The Cast of CEO
Allen Wu – Chinese (II)
Angélique Kidjo – Dr. Zara Zimmerman
Aurélie Eliam – Eloise (as Aurelie Eliam)
Fatym Layachi – Yasmin
Feige – Mr. Cheng
Hilda Dokubo – Superintendent Ebenezer
Jimmy Jean-Louis – Jean-Marc
Kemi Lala Akindoju – Lisa
Nico Panagio – Riikard
Peter King Nzioki – Jomo
Vivian Chenxue Lu – Chinese (I)
Wale Ojo – Kola
The Technical Construction
The cinematography was good and I loved the location of the movie. The drowned Jomo at the beach was quite convincing and him being a Kenyan in a suit at the beach, apt.
Conclusion
The director did a good job. The story is unique. It is far from what I expected from the movie title but everything does come together beautifully. I also felt good research went into portraying the different characters.
Rating
I give this production a 7/10 some scenes felt a little clumsy like Kola being drowned.
