Available on Maisha Magic and Showmax
The series has been running on Showmax for several years now. The script may not be exciting however, the cast is star-studded.
A young lady is looking to move from the slum but is held back by her family and friends who are comfortable with the basics. She, however, will do anything to change her situation, lack of education, and finances withstanding.
I didn’t like the script much. The story was a little all over the place for most of the first episodes with a couple of unnecessary scenes. However, if you are looking to improve your sheng then it could be interesting.
The star-studded cast carries this production as is to be expected, given that there is not much of a plot to work with. This is especially so in the first episodes. The script is mainly in sheng (Kenyan English – Swahili).
Brenda Wairimu does a great job with the main character Monica and so do most of the other characters.
Brenda Wairimu – Monica
Fidel Maithya – Bob
Jinna Mutune – Merline
Joe Gachanga – Lucas
Joyce Maina – Vivian
Kangethe Nungari – Martha
Raymond Ofula – Robert
Rita Wairimu – Eva
Samuel Kamora – Mike
Sision Torome – Annie
A couple of scenes were unnecessary and did not seem to add much to the story. The cinematography was good, technical construction, editing, music were good.
Everyone did their part but there is not much of a story to work within the beginning. I hope the plot thickens in future seasons.
