Africa Day Benefit Concert with Idris Elba

Last night’s Africa Day Benefit Concert was lit! – but short. African Artists from 25 countries came together to raise funds for African communities that will be affected by Covid-19. We were reminded of why we are so happy to be who we are, our music, dress, colorful lash continent, and the spirit of Ubuntu.
I was expecting a lot of different artists, was looking forward to seeing how creative our artists would be with their music given the season we are in.  I was not disappointed.

My best acts were by Dakolo and Cobhams Asuquo, Davido, Diamond Platinumz, Adekunle Gold, Sauti Soul, Teni, C4, Temi, M.Anifest, Scorpion Xings, Busila and Niniola, Rema, Angelique, Bebe Cool, Shadow Boxer, Salif Keita, AKA, Nandy, Drizilik, Yemi Alade, Afro B and Burna Boy.
I think Diamond Platinumz, Davido, Yemi Alade, and Nandy, showed they are arguably the most creative in the continent by either giving us something new or repackaging it tastefully so we had a new experience with their music or a concept. Ndlovu Youth Choir, Salif Keita, StoneBwoy,  communicated the message of the season ‘together apart’ best. I just liked that the video graphics in the Choirs Video and Yemi Alade & Angelique Kodji also seemed to communicate the same. On the downside, a number of the songs were cut short and the concert just ended when I was warmed up.
So, at the end of it all, who am I jamming to after Africa Day Benefit Concert? … Hmmm, here’s where I play you like Drogba as I Jeje, I am still jamming with Yemi and Angelique, and how long has Drizilik been around?
